Theme of IDSE qualification is self study because it has been designed for qualified and experienced professionals. There are no formal lectures however; online trainer support will be available for one year from the date of registration. Please note there are no formal lectururing.

The candidate and trainer will have a one on one interaction through Whatsapp, Skype or telephone call. The trainer will provide guidance regarding the marking criteria for each unit exam and will advise the candidates on how to prepare for an exam.

Note: IDSE has been designed for experienced and qualified professionals who are comfortable with self study and seek quite little trainer support in terms of guidance only. Those who find it difficult to self study should preferably not apply for registration.

IDSE (International Diploma in Safety engineering) is an international customized qualification. This qualification has been designed for qualified and experienced professionals who have some safety and engineering roles in the organizations. The diploma is very unique because unlike other diploma in OH&S, it is based on skill oriented basic engineering knowledge necessary for day to day occupational safety and health affairs of the organizations along with the emphasis on continual improvement approach in Occupational Safety and Health (OH&S) Management systems.

IOSH memberships are highly prestigious and are valued across the globe for health and safety related roles. GradIOSH membership is awarded to professionals who meet the minimum academic requirement (List of Qualification Given on IOSH Website) in OH&S. IDSE has been accredited by IOSH for GradIOSH Membership. The successful graduates of IDSE can apply directly for GradIOSH Membership of IOSH (After payment of requisite fee).

How do I become a Graduate Member?

To be recommended for Graduate Member status, you should hold one of the accredited qualifications or a cognate degree. You don't have to have a specific level of experience in health and safety. Provided you have an appropriate qualification, you'll become a Graduate Member.
All Graduate Members join our Initial Professional Development (IPD) scheme. IPD will take between two and five years to complete. If you successfully finish IPD, we'll recommend that you're awarded Chartered membership. This is the only route to Chartered membership.
Graduate Members must keep up to date with their CPD.

• It has 2 units assessed through 2 subjective type Online Open Book Exams followed by a closing interview so you can attempt both exams and interview from the comfort of your home. The only requirement is a suitable internet connection and Zoom/ Skype functional account of the candidate
• The contents of IDSE are professional and skill oriented
• Assessments are Valid and Reliable and true test of one's skill and knowledge
• Result within 15 working days after the exam and certificates within 15 working days after the result (in case you qualify both unit exams and interview)

Exam Pattern

There will be 2 unit online exams which will be separately assessed. The details of each unit exam is as follows;-

Unit 1

-       Total Marks: 150

-       Passing Marks: 75 (50%)

Note: A candidate who scores minimum 70 marks in each unit will be given 5 additional marks to cater for error of judgement of the examiner for a subjective type assessment and the communication barriers inherent with the assessment. The benefit of error is thus provided to the candidate. The result for such candidates will be issued as 70+5*= 75*    (5 Grace Marks).

-       There will be 2 sections in Unit 1 exam i.e. Section “A” and Section “B”.

•  Section “A” will be a long scenario and at the end of scenario, there will be 5 questions related to the scenario. Each question will carry 10 marks. So overall Section “A” will carry 50 Marks.
• Section “B” will be a 5 short scenarios and at the end of scenario, there will be 1 or 2 questions related to the scenario. Each question will carry 20 or 10 marks. So overall Section “B” will carry 100 Marks.
• The candidate will need to overall pass in each unit exam and cumulative marks in Section “A” and “B” will be counted for overall marks in each unit.

-       Passing Marks: 75 (50%)
